A cultural difference that I notice every time
I do a workshop is the Australian habit of saying thanks or thank you
every time I collect evaluation forms or other materials from the
participants.
It gets very tiring to say thanks to all 60 or so people every time I collect something. Indonesian teachers do not appear to do this.
I didn't remember doing this in Australia but on thinking back to
teaching in Australia, I realised that the reason I didn't do this was
that I always got the kids to pass everything to the front of the row,
so I only had to say thanks 4 times.

if you want to be really Australia don't forget to use thanks every time
you receive something. Australians tend to think people rude who do not
say thanks.
