Comparatives

Hi Fbers, today we will look at comparatives. (Used when comparing two objects. Example This car is bigger than that car. (Mobil ini lebih besar dari mobil itu))

In Indonesian this is done by using 'lebih _____ (dari)'

In English we usually add –er OR use the word ‘more ____ (than)’.

For one syllable adjectives we just add -er
tall --> taller

For 3 letter adjectives double the final letter:
Fat --> fatter
Big --> bigger
Sad --> sadder

For 2 syllable adjectives we + -er OR more + adjective
happy --> happier OR more happy
simple --> simpler OR more simple

If you are not sure, use MORE + adjective

Adjectives ending in '-y' like happy: replace the -y with -ier

For words with 3 or more syllables we use 'more' + adjective
important --> more important
expensive --> more expensive
